Application

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage the operation of a first response team. It covers the development, implementation and review of the procedures for the operation of a first response team.

A first response teamincludes trained personnel who prepare for and respond to an emergency incident that poses an immediate risk in a power generation facility such as that caused through natural disaster, fire, hazardous spills or other dangerous events. First response teams must comply with federal, state and local government laws and regulations for the management of emergency incidents.

Competency in this unit requires the ability toplan for operation of first response team, manage operation of first response teamand report outcomes of the emergency response. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator with responsibility for risk management, in a power generation facility.

Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
